Carla Fisher came up with the idea for Eddie Stobart bears last Christmas, and has now had her designs commissioned by the haulage firm, which has bases in Carlisle and Lillyhall, West Cumbria. Mrs Fisher, who used to work for Border Fine Arts and Enesco giftware, produces the range of bears single-handedly from her house at Grange Farm, Ivegill.
She wrote to Eddie Stobart in January with the idea for bears named after each truck, and has now been commissioned by the firm to produce the teddies.
The exclusive contract is a dream come true for 33-year-old Mrs Fisher, who beat malignant cancer in recent years and also suffered the heartbreak of losing her herd during foot and mouth in 2001.
Mrs Fisher and her husband Alastair have two children, seven-year-old Connor, and Rhiannon, who is five.
“I feel very lucky, and Eddie Stobart have been great with me – nothing is ever too much trouble,” she said.
The range consists of a collection of five different types of teddies.
There are 250 ‘Norman’ bears available, with trademark green jackets and baseball caps, as well as three standard Stobart bears.
Mrs Fisher also aims to produce teddies bearing the name of every truck in the Eddie Stobart fleet - almost 1,000 of them! Reproduced by kind permission of The News & Star © 2003 AllRights Reserved |
